How it works

Three taps to true self-custody

Pairing a hardware wallet feels native inside your app. The private keys never leave the device — every transaction is built in-app, sent to the device, confirmed on its screen, and broadcast once the user physically approves it.

  • Connect over USB or Bluetooth in a guided flow
  • Keys stay on the secure element — never exposed
  • Verify recipient & amount on the device screen
  • Approve with a physical button press

Why it's secure

Keys offline. Always.

Hardware wallets keep private keys inside a dedicated secure chip that never connects to the internet — immune to malware, phishing and remote attacks.

Key storage
Private keys are generated and stored on the device's secure element and never leave it.
Signing
Transactions are signed on-device; your app only ever sees the signed result, never the keys.
Verification
Recipient and amount are displayed on the device screen and require a physical confirmation.
Connection
USB and Bluetooth (device-dependent), with a guided pairing flow inside your branded app.
Recovery
Standard BIP39 recovery phrases held by the user — fully self-custodial.
Coverage
Works across the chains and assets your wallet already supports.
Hardware FAQ

Good to know

No — and that's intentional. Users bring their own Ledger or Trezor (or buy one from the manufacturer). Exodus provides the software integration so those devices work seamlessly inside your branded app, with no hardware for you to source or ship.

Co-branding or bundling devices is a commercial arrangement you'd make directly with Ledger or Trezor. Our role is the software: connecting whatever supported device your users have to your wallet experience.

Through a guided flow in your app — over USB or Bluetooth depending on the model. The user confirms each transaction physically on the device, so keys stay offline at all times.

Hardware signing works across the chains and assets your wallet already supports, subject to each device's own coin support. We map the overlap during integration.

Entirely optional. Most users stay on the in-app non-custodial wallet, while power users and high-value holders can add a hardware device for extra peace of mind.
